Baccarat Basics

Because the minimums tend to be high, baccarat is usually considered a high rollers game and is often separated from the rest of the casino for that purpose. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get involved. The game itself is not that complicated.

In this table game, the bets are for the Player, the Banker, or a tie between the two. The dealer (not necessarily the casino dealer) deals out two cards to the Player and two to the Banker. If one of them has a total of eight or nine, that one wins. If not, another card can be dealt to each. At this point, whoever has the highest number wins.

The Value of the Hands

The one thing you do need to know before going into a game is how the cards are valued. The highest score a hand can get is nine and the lowest is a zero. An eight or a nine is known as a natural and a zero is known as baccarat. The two through nine cards count as their face value, while the aces count as one and everything else is considered a zero. When adding up the value of each hand, the first digit of anything above a ten is removed. For example, if a hand has a four and a seven, instead of adding up to eleven, the ten digit is removed and it really adds up to only one.

While there are more rules to the game, the basics of baccarat really are that simple. Now that you know the basics, it’s time to go to Veneto Casino and play!
